There are 3 possible ways to enter Bhutan:

  • By plane – landing in Paro – from Nepal, India or Thailand
  • By car – entering the country at Samdrup-Jongkhar; you can get to Trashigang in 6 hours and begin your voyage on the east side of the country.
  • By car – entering via Bengale at Phuestsholing; this way you can travel to the Paro Valley in 6 hours.

In any case, at the airport at Paro or at the Indian border, your guide and chauffeur will be there to welcome you. From there on, you need not worry. Be advised that the roads in Bhutan are not yet paved, thus it takes much time to travel from one place to another. But the road system enables you to see the country from east to west, and west to east, as well as to see the south; and you will always passing through beautiful sites.

Two airline companies fly into Bhutan: Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines. The flights are not daily, but we will take care of all the reservations.

The schedules of the two airline companies vary according to the weather and the seasons; they can be modified at any time. It is therefore important that – for your return trip via the airport of Dehli, Katmandou or elsewhere – you have a transit time sufficiently long to adapt; as your flight leaving Paro can be delayed due to weather.

The country also has a local airport at Bumthang, for internal flights that connect at Paro. This way, if you choose, you can make one-way flights and to return via car, or vice versa. And you will be able to see, weather permitting, a breathtaking view of the Himalayas.
